He was guided by Chris Sharma, and I think that his advices were a key factor why he succeeded. In my humble opinion, maybe you can ask Chris to go there with you, I am sure it'll increase your chances.

While Adam is driven in the way many legendary athletes have been, Alex's motivations are more subtle and hidden...its perhaps the reason people are fascinated by Alex. Both are legends and have made great contributions to climbing.
