Something that I quite like about Mulan is that it is based off of a real person. There’s this Chinese poem, called the ballad of Mulan, speaking of a girl who went to war for her family. I like the fact that they actually kind of tried to follow the plot instead of giving Mulan a love interest and basically make that the whole plot for the film, instead of the war.
